Walkerville def Athelstone

Brilliantly led by their captain, the U 13 scored a great win against Athelstone. The team played well together, highlights included a brilliant piece of play by Jack Daly, who chased, caught and tackled his oponent. They finish 2nd on the ladder at the end of the minor round.

The U9's had a very close game against Modbury this week. The whole team played really well.

A solid enough scoreboard result, but our lack of tackling pressure and high number of ball gathering and handball errors were concerning. We will suffer at the hands of teams like Payneham and TTG if we serve up today’s form in finals.

We never really got the whole thing happening today, but the best moments showed excellent run and carry, good link up play and good support through shepherding. We lacked cleanness with our ball gathering, though and dropped some marks we should have taken, especially early in the game – those shortfalls will hurt us against the better teams in the comp.

After a tardy start when we simply had too few really prepared to commit their body at the contest, the team showed some of the best commitment and discipline we have seen this season.

Well, we found out today just how difficult it will be to win the flag. The TTG team is very good with plenty of players prepared to back themselves at each and every contest. To compete with them next time, we will need to at least match their intensity throughout the entire 4 quarters.
