We had a great registration day today and as a result a number of our age groups are full and as such we cannot take any new registrations for U13s, U12s or U6s. Should you wish to register for any of the other age groups please contact David Chapman on 0420 308 992. We need the following info for late "new player" registrations: 1. Completed and signed rego form 2. Copy of Proof of Age - birth certificate etc 3. Uniform requirements and sizes 4. ***GRAND FINALS - Final Results***

With the club having three teams make the Grand Finals we were in for an exciting last Sunday.

U12Reds - Congratulations to the U12 Red side who defeated Golden Grove 7.2 - 44 to 2.1 - 13!!!

After a quick start by Golden Grove the boys were held scoreless in the first quarter.  Needing a bit of a change up, Coach Warren Slee threw the aside around and the boys managed to keep the ball forward for most of the second quarter, going into the main break down only a point having kept GG scoreless.  After half time the team really started to play well and managed to keep GG scorelss for the rest of the game and the Cats kept working the ball forward and converting opportunities.  A great team effort again from the boys and a never say die attitude meant that they were never out of it and emerged clearly victorious for the match and undefeated for the whole season - the perfect season!!!

U12 Red - Best and Fairest - Mackenzie Slee

Runnerup - Patrick Fahey

Most Courageous - Oscar Chapman

Best Utility - Darcy Blacker

Coaches Award - Luke Valente

 

U11Reds - Having has a purple patch running into the finals the team having come from third had made the grand final and were a real chance.  The Golden Grove team had a fantastic start and the boys were always playing a bit of catchup.  However come the start of the last quarter the team had fought back and there was nothing in it.  Unfortunately GG then played some fantastic footy and kicked away to defeat Walky 2.4-16 - 5.4 - 34.

End of Season Information

Dear WJFC community,

For all those involved from U 6 to U 10 the 2011 season has drawn to a close.
Thank you to everybody who volunteered their time to make these kids get a kick and a catch every week. A special thanks to all those involved with coaching and team managing.
For the  u 11's, 12 Red and 15's congratulations on making finals and good luck over the next 3 weeks.
The 12 Whites, 13's and 14's bad luck but I am sure you had a productive and enjoyable season. Again thanks to all those in the community who made these games happen every week and of course especially to coaches and team managers.

2012 looms as another exciting year for the WJFC where we will again strive to ensure the long term success of the club by seeking to field multiple under 8 sides along with our u 6 team which for it's first year was such a success.

All these things do not happen without a small band of extremely dedicated people willing giving time. This starts with the committee but also flows onto coaches and team managers.

James Tizard

The Walkerville Junior Football Club acknowledges the passing of James Tizard who unselfishly gave this club so much time over the past 8 years, many of these serving as club treasurer and unofficial web guru. He was a generous and gentle soul.

Our thoughts go out to Susan , Leo and CC.
